One Love Foundation GOT SHOES? 3000!!
One World, One Heart, One Love Last shipment arrived March 2012!
Six shipments have provided wheelchairs,walkers, crutches, shoes, clothing, medical and school supplies, furniture, bicycles, and more...did we say, "THANK YOU!" for making this all possible? From Palmerton, Coaldale, Lansford, Summit Hill, Jim Thorpe, Mahanoy City, McAdoo, Tamaqua, Penn Kidder, Palmerton, and beyond....
We ship 40 ft. cargo containers to the orphanage which are filled to the brim with donations. Not an easy undertaking, the total cost to ship these containers from the eastern U.S. to Sierra Leone exceeds $8000. One Love could not exist without the many volunteers and supporters who help to make these shipments possible. Packing, stacking, collecting, sorting, ....each box filled with love!
As an organization, we have helped provide the orphanage with donations of:
- Mosquito nets
- Generators
- Food/Water (3 wells)
- Dental products (toothbrushes and toothpaste)
- Clothing
- Household goods
- Shoes (over 6000!!)
- Appliances
- Fabric
- Hygiene products (soap and shampoo)
- Baby food
- School equipment
- Medicine/medical supplies
- Tools/building supplies
- Utility vehicles
LET THEM WALK IN OUR SHOES! Blue Ridge Communications Ch. 13 teaming up to let our children "Walk In Their Shoes"! Shoes being collected and packed by the National Guard and Panther Valley ROTC on Nov. 12, 2011 at the Lehighton Armory. Thank you to all the schools that participated and to all our military for the logistics involved in collecting thousands of shoes!! One Love is a volunteer-based organization, which relies heavily on our community and churches for most of our donations and fund-raisers. With a dedicated group of volunteers, we hope to continue to raise the much-needed funds in order to keep this program alive.
